Thoroughly Modern Card

This card was made for a new acquaintance of ours, who just graduated from high school.  I know its not the traditional graduation card, but oh well!

The base is Chocolate Chip, followed by layers of Thoroughly Modern DSP and Taken with Teal.  The Spellbinders Fleur-de-Lis Pendant die was cut from Rose Red, and the Nestabilites Scallop Square is from Very Vanilla.  The stamp is from Say It With Scriptures (SU).

Finishing touches are Prima Flowers and pearls.

Thanks for looking!

Tri Fold Green Tea Card

This tri-fold card was made with some Certainly Celery cardstock, and Green Tea DSP from Stampin Up.

I accented the insert with a faint background (sorry- you can't see it very well) made with a swirl stamp (can't remember the name), Versamark and chalks.

I used Nestabilitied Scallop dies to make the little emblem on the front, then added some cutouts from the Fleur-de-Lis pendant (Spellbinders) to accent.

Thanks for looking!

2-Step Bird Punch Tulips

I am so inspired by everyone's tulip creations made with the wing of the 2-Step Bird Punch (SU), that I had to make some of my own.   I made several of these and left the inside blank so that I can use them for whatever occasion I need...I happened to have a friend who had a birthday this week, so this card was what she got...I hope she enjoys it.

I must confess that almost everything on this card is from the scrap drawer, except the base which is Certainly Celery (SU).  I use Nestabilities Oval and Scallop Oval for the center of the card, then embossed the white piece with Cuttlebug's Damask folder.

The butterfly and the white scalloped borders are both Marth Stewart punches.

Happy Spring and have a great day!

Vintage Vogue Birthday

Here is a Happy Birthday card that I made using the Vintage Vogue set from Stampin' Up.   The card base is Certainly Celery, with Whisper White and Perfect Plum layers.   The flowers are stamped with Perfect Plum, Rich Razzleberry and Always Artichoke.   I also used Happy Everything (SU) for the sentiment...for some reason, I never seem to get this sentiment straight...I guess I need to stop being lazy and use my Stamp-a-ma-Jig.

The little leaves are from the 2-step Bird Punch (SU), and some of the flowers are double-layered and popped with dimensionals.  The front is sponged with Rich Razzleberry.

Thanks for looking- have an amazing day!

Born to be Wild

Here's my post for the May Guest Designer Challenge...it's a great sketch, and I love the chance to take a shot at this spot.
My card uses "Bye Bye Boy"...love the image- it reminds me a lot of my little guy, even tho he's a little bit older now, but he seemed to be born always moving and always on the go.  I colored it with Copics and airbrushed the background.
The cardstock and paper were actually just generic scraps I found in my scrap pile...then I knew I wanted to add something related to the image as my "circles" that were in the sketch.   It finally came to me-  I will make bicycle tires!   I did a sort of Spirelli work (I think) on white scalloped circles-  I've never actually done Spirelli, but this is what I imagine that it might look like.   Then I overlayed black "tires" cut out with Nestabilities, and added brads for the hubcaps.
I hope you like it, and maybe even inspires you to take a nice bike ride on a lovely Spring day!   (or chase after your small children, trying to leave town on a bike)...have a great day!

Ceramic Tiles

This card I made using a technique I call the Ceramic Tile technique...I don't know if that's really a bona fide technique, but I'm gonna call it one.   I used an old Stampin Up Hydrangea stamp in Night of Navy on Whisper White (4"x6").   I then cut the image into 1 inch squares (being careful to keep them in exact order)...I then sponged each square on all 4 sides (being careful to keep them in exact order)...then I gued them down to another piece of Whisper White, leaving a little tiny "grout line" between them (being careful to keep them in exact order- can you tell that I made the mistake of screwing up the order once?   You definitely do not want to do that!)
Anyhow, after all of your pieces are attached to the larger white piece, then hold your VersaMark pad upside down and pounce it all over your work to make sure it is all covered.   Then coat with clear embossing powder and heat it to melt...you may have to repeat this step a time or two to make sure you have a congruent glossy coat over all.
When I was done with that, I attached to a slightly bigger piece of Night of Navy, which was sponged around the edges with White.   Then after the ribbon was attached, I affixed it to the 5"x7" card base, also Night of Navy.
I love this look- you could surely make a smaller version for an A2 sized card, just be sure to start with an even measurement so you can keep your squares the same size...1" squares work very nicely.

Have a wonderful day!

Purse-onal Birthday Card

I made this cute little purse/card for a friend's birthday...it's just the right size for a little Ghiardelli or other type of flat chocolate, or maybe a gift card instead.   In fact I am going to make up a bunch of these for my friends' birthdays for the next few months...it's a great way to use up some DSP scraps.
I know I saw something like this on SplitCoast, but I can't find it, so I apologize for not giving credit where its due.
It's made with 2 Top Note diecuts of DSP (I used some old Groovy Guava), cut another of Chocolate Chip, then manually cut off 4 corners.  I cut strips of Chocolate Chip about 1 1/4" wide, then rounded the ends, folded and taped them together for the handles...attached with little brads   White gel pen is the "stitching".   Then I made a narrow little "box" and sandwiched it all together with ScorPal tape for strength.   I made the little insert to fit inside, and folded the bottom up to make a little pocket to hold a goodie or giftcard (that part is optional).
Thanks for checking it out...have a great day!

Mo's Dream Team Guest Designer Challenge

Hi- This is my entry for the Mo's Dream Team Guest Designer Challenge.  This is my first challenge ever...and I'm a little nervous.   But I fell in love with Mo's amazing art a week or so ago when I was surfing, and I had to join in the fun...

The image that I used is "Soaking Up the Joy"...I also added a stamp from SU's Say it With Scripture.  Both were colored/airbrushed with Copics.
The card base is SU's Garden Green, and the Scalloped Circles (Nestabilities) are from SU's Blue Bayou.   The background paper and the colorful strip are from Basic Grey.  The colorful Basic Grey strip is bordered with white, accented with MS's edger punch.
The paper roses are made with Bazzil pink scraps, and a large flower punch.  The leaves are from SU's God's Beauty set, embossed in clear.   Final accents are white Flora Doodles, pearls, Stickles and little butterflies from scraps.
Thank you for looking...I hope you enjoy it!

This is my mother's Happy Birthday card...Her birthday is today, and I always remember it with joy, because it is the first day of Spring, among other reasons...
What better way to celebrate a 1st Day of Spring Happy Birthday than with daffodils?

I got my inspiration for the beautiful daffodils from LeeAnn Greff's website...
You can see her creation here...it's quite lovely.
The card is Not Quite Navy, with Urban Garden DSP, and some Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss and other scraps from my scrap drawer.   The oval and scalloped oval Nestabilities centerpiece was sponged with Bliss Blue for a cloud-like effect...the flowers were finished with a dot a Stickles in the center.

Hope you enjoy it!

Hamster Birthday Cupcake

OK, so I am now totally hooked on Mo Manning's Digital Pencil art!   I fell in love with this Hamster right away, and since we have a little boy's 1st birthday party to go to today, it was a must-have.
I colored him with Copics and added Stickles...the base of the card is Not Quite Navy.   Oh my word...he looks like he was just busted!

Rose Wedding Card

OK, so I am very new at this...it's my first blog post, so bear with me.
This is a card that I made for a friend's wedding...her colors were black red and white, so I made her wedding card to match.

I used Stampin' Up black, Very Vanilla, and Real Red. I cut out the oval openings with the Nestabilities Oval set.   The Very Vanilla front was stamped with the Baroque swirled stamp.   Then the flower was made with 10 scalloped circle punches, fastened together with a brad and "ruffed up" a bit.   No card of mine is complete without a bit of Stickles, so that finishes it all off.   I hope you enjoyed....
